The company received high praise for generating “independent communicationamong employees” even when working remotely
LINE Fukuoka Corporation (“LINE Fukuoka”; Location: Hakata Ward, Fukuoka; Representative Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer: Noritaka Ochiai) is pleased to announce that it was awarded a special prize by judges at the 2021 “e-Communication Grand Prix” for the company’s remote communication measures.
One thing that makes working at LINE Fukuoka appealing is its staff (in other words, the people that together at the company). We have over 1,000 employees who come from various backgrounds and undertake diverse initiatives.
LINE Fukuoka has also adopted a work-from-home (WFH) system, and currently, 20% of employees work in the office. The company was concerned that a lack of contact with colleagues and other companies would lead to narrowed perspectives and reduced engagement.
In order to resolve these issues, the company created the six venues below with the theme of enabling mutual communication between management and employees, as well as communication among employees.
① Communication between management and employees
• Creating a sense of unity online through executive policy announcements
• Casual communication between management and employees
• Employee interviews to learn about the leaders of other departments
② Communication among employees
• Interactive newsletters to replace in-office chats
• Online shuffle lunches to create chat spaces across departments
• Leader’s meetings to promote mutual understanding between leaders
To realize our mission of “CLOSING THE DISTANCE”¹ between our over 1,000 employees and our leadership, we aimed to encourage independent communication (or “communication that leads to more communication”).

■ Evaluation comments from e-Communication Grand Prix Judges
These measures that utilize employee feedback have successfully improved engagement as well as communication between employees. Many people have gotten involved, and the fact that these events have led to independent activity among employees (like the founding of a parenting club) is also wonderful.

■ About e-Communication Grand Prix
Due to the sudden expansion in remote work, a lack of communication among employees is a major issue for companies. The “interactive” e-Communication Grand Prix was established as an opportunity to share creative communication solutions and knowledge under remote work conditions, and to recognize similar efforts.
■ Details of LINE Fukuoka internal communication initiatives that received a Special Prize by judges
① Communication between management and employees
② Communication among employees
Moving forward, LINE Fukuoka will pursue internal communication initiatives and create systems that let employees exceed department boundaries as well as continue taking on challenges, even when working remotely.
